More needlework, this time crochet

The evenings are closing it - or really the days are closing in as it is dark by 4pm, so time to get busy. Also, there is something comforting to sit by the fire, watching the tv and doing some handcraft.

I still haven't finished the socks, yes, I know, the capellete is still a work in progress. Right now I am working on a cord with pompoms to weave through the neck as it is too stretchy. One more pompom to go. Actually, the decision to do the pompoms was to give my 6 year old something to do when he was home from school one day. The cord came about as I bought the twins one of those wooden things you make woollen cord with. Can't for the life of me remember the name of it, but you wind the wool around four hooks, and one by one, take one loop over the other, the cord grows down the centre. I'd also like to point out that to date, neither twin has produced either a pompom or a cord.

So now, I am making my way through my three boxes of DMS embroidery thread and the instructions of Debbie Stoller and making a LOT of very small and dainty crochet rounds, in multiple colours. I'm not sure what they will become - a scarf? a blanket? stitched onto a rug? The first eight were a bit rubbish but I'm getting good now.

As each one is finished, it is pinned to a large sheet of foam board. I am hoping that that will inform to tell me what it wants to become.

I can't upload any photos at the moment, the mini card for my new a700 camera is too small to fit into the slots in the computer, the mobile mate mini-card usb reader is too mini and too large. Now the usb cables for the camera are missing. Too many people messing around at my desk, grrr.

Did I mention that I am moving to New Zealand in four weeks?
